Heather joined Vero Liability in July 2005 as a Senior Underwriter and brings over 20 years insurance experience to the role in both General Commercial insurance and since 1990 in Liability Insurance, working for both American and Swiss Insurers. Heather serves on the Insurance Council Liability Committee. Her experience is predominantly in the area of Construction Liability and Public Liability insurance for companies of all sizes, and her expertise in this area brings an extra dimension to our team’s skillbase.

Matt is a Barrister and Solicitor with 15 years experience in general litigation and insurance. Following admission to the bar in 1997, he spent 5 years in private legal practice in New Zealand dealing with a variety of liability claims on behalf of insurers. In 2002 Matt travelled overseas and after qualifying as a solicitor in England & Wales, Matt spent the next 4 years dealing with professional indemnity claims with The St Paul Insurance Company in London. Matt returned to New Zealand at the end of 2006 to join Vero Liability. Matt has represented insurers in mediations, has appeared in the District and High Court and specialises in professional negligence.

Ian brings over 30 years insurance experience to the team, having held both insurance broking and underwriting roles. In 1989 he began his specialist liability career and has worked in the New Zealand, Australian and Lloyd's of London markets. Ian has previously served on the Insurance Council Liability Committee and Insurance Institute Seminars Committee. One of Ian's responsibilities is the provision of seminars on a variety of liability topics for our clientele. This is facilitated both on a direct basis with brokers, at in-house seminars, and as a seminar presenter for the IBANZ College.

John is a barrister and solicitor with over 35 years experience in the insurance industry. He was at McElroys in Auckland prior to running his own legal practice. John is also a chartered loss adjuster and ran a loss adjusting business in tandem with his legal practice prior to joining Vero Liability in October 2004. John has represented insurers in all areas of insurance law at mediations and has appeared in the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal. Although much of his time is spent dealing with claims, part of his time is spent on assisting our clients in areas of risk management. John is a Fellow of the Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance and of the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters.
