The New Zealand Government has been involved in providing seed monitoring , testing and varietal certification services but has never introduced any form of specialised seed legislation.

The designated authority for New Zealand is the Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry (MAF) which requires all operators of seed cleaning premises who rely on any form of international government to government certification to be accredited and regularly audited.

The Difference Between Seedsmen's E&O and Product Liability

A Seedsmens E&O policy compensates for the failure of the product to perform or fullfill its purpose including the resultant economic losses suffered by a customer of the insured.

A Public & Products Liability policy compensates for personal injury and property damage arising from the product or operations of the insured. It does not compensate for the loss of the product itself or the costs associated with its non performance.
